The Vagrant Blosson project is an effort to reclaim vacant land in urban phoenix with the goal of re-populating space with native desert ecology. Vagrant Blossom is also distributing nopal pads and encouraging others to engage a larger community participatory guerrilla-style "gardening" intervention. A map with the location of each plant will be produced as this project continues to grow. The project is following the growth of each pad and will last several years. Each year the nopal pads and fruits are harvested and foods from these urban guerrilla plantings are prepared and shared with the community, with the overall intention of raising awareness and appreciation of local ecology and culture.
